John’s question and Jesus’ answer would have caused a stir. Had John just fallen a notch? How had Jesus really taken being questioned by John? Jesus leaves no doubt, as He has the crowds assess what they expected from John and then affirms John in a way that we should find encouraging for when we are wounded and wondering.
